Melia volkensii localy known as (Mukau) in Kamba language, is an arid and semi arid tree that is popularly known for hard wood timber and is resistant to drought, pest and diseases. The tree grows very first and matures within 10 to 15 years depending on the use. The tree is ideal for arid areas like Machakos, Makueni, Kitui, Wajir, mandera, moyale and Kilifi counties.
